Memory Mystery

Let me start by saying was an invaluable resource this board is! Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to help me out. You have NO idea how much frustration you have saved me, not to mention all I have learned along the way. Now on to my next question- I’m not sure if this is a hardware problem or an XP problem, so I am posting it in both forums. I just got my wife’s new system up and running smoothly, FINALLY! The problem seems to have been the memory. The ECS K7S5A Pro mainboad has 2 slots for SDRAM, and 2 for DDR memory. I got a new stick of DDR memory along with the rest of the system, and it kept locking up win XP, but ran 98 and 98 SE just fine. I pulled out the DDR and stuck the old SDRAM back in and now XP is up and running nice and smooth. I tried a different stick of DDR, and had the same problem. There are no jumpers or BIOS settings that I am aware of to select one or the other. The main board recognizes both of them on start up, but XP just doesn’t seem to line the DDR. Any ideas? Thanks.
