Talking Hard drive does growling noises

Helloooo guys

I've got quite a problem here.

I have two hard drives in my computer, C: and E:.

My E: drive is quite ancient, I've got all my baby pictures stocked in it so yeah, it's quite awkward.

Besides the awkwardness, I noticed a few years ago that it started growling every time I clicked on the hard drive to see what's in it, or when my antivirus is scanning this drive for viruses. Apart from that, it's not that bad, it doesn't explode or anything, it just growls and cracks like a monster.

What could be doing this crackling-growling-ticking noise? My C: drive is fine and quiet.

Sounds like it's failing, backup everything, and remove.

I concur when an HDD starts making untoward noises it`s not usaually a good sign so back up the important stuff like your kids photos on your other drive before it fails.
