BX2000+ wont recognise multiplier
I have a Gigabyte BX2000+ motherboard and a P3 600Mhz cpu. I was wondering why every time i set the multiplier to 6x and the FSB to 100 it always runs at 450Mhz. Then when i checked it using WCPUID i discovered that no matter what multiplier i set, the motherboard/cpu is still using 4.5x
Is this simply because the cpu does not want to run at a higher multiplier? If so, that makes no sense as its a 600Mhz cpu (I've checked the serial numbers and ID etc.) and shouldn't have trouble running at 6x100. But it simply refuses any setting that I try.
It still accepts the FSB settings however, so in order to make it run as close to its normal speed as possible I have to set it to 4.5x133 (598Mhz).
Can anyone tell me why its doing this and how I can make it let me set my own multiplier? Thanks.
