Cpu heat

Hi all,
I have an Athlon Xp 2000+ and when I bought it I got an aluminum heat sink with a 3000rpm fan. It was useless as my processor was exceeding temperatures of 66 degrees. This was a retail pack so I was pretty pi$$ed off when I had to go out and by a 55$ volcano 7 plus. My volcano is keeping it under 60 degrees with a lot of noise. My question is I want to put a 2400+ in, and I was wondering if they run hotter than 2000+'s. Also another thing I have a gigabyte board and my dad has an asus now he has a 2400+ in his motherboard which runs under 50 degrees where as my processor is running above 50 and its only a 2000+ so could my motherboard be making my processor run hotter than in an Asus board.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Running temperature is very dependant on chassis ambient air temperature ...

You need to ensure that :-

Cool air can get inside your PC.

Hot air can get out of your PC.

All fans are clean and running correctly.

All vents are clean and unobstructed.

You have as much space as possible around your CPU and Graphics card.

HDD & FDD data cables do not obstruct airflow around the inside of the chassis.

Well I do have to system fans and my computer heats up the whole room literally. Also do you think the processor being near the power supply would be contributing to the high heat?

Wait on my dads asus mobo the processor is near the power supply so you can rule that out, and my motherboard has a little heat sensor that touches the other side of the processor, yet on my dads asus board there’s nothing how does it read the heat?

You cannot directly compare the CPU temperatures of 2 machines unless they are exactly the same.

Your Dad's machine will have a sensor on the Mobo, not as close to the CPU as yours
so it will be detecting a lower temperature.

The case size and shape also makes a big difference.

You will need to check the Heatsink manufacturers to see if it will run a higher CPU.

It goes up to a 2600+ both the mobo and heatsink, so i guess that explains why my dads comp seems to be less hot. Our case's are different but mine has better cooling going through it, and his is in a cooler area. My comp is also in a corner where the heat builds up, so i think i need a better cooling system for my comp because its making my room hot, or air conditioning its summer over here.
