Firstly forget anything about flashing the HDD!

Has the PC worked at all since you built it?

If repeatedly tapping the 'delete key' during the POST doesn't get you int the BIOS try a different keyboard.

What is 'Fastrack'?

I have just reread the Manual for your mobo, it is definately <Delete> to enter BIOS (Page 74).

What is BBS?

format won't help. Windows has nothing to do with the BIOS. Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there is a BIOS update. If so, then try flashing the BIOS. Read all you can before you proceed with BIOS flashing, it can be risky.

Disconnect the data cable(s) from the back of your HDDs / Optical Drives and see if you can get into BIOS.

As curtybob says BIOS has got nothing to do with what is on your HDD, so disconnecting different components may help trace the source of the problem.

ok ill do a detailed explination

1st i bought all the hardware and set it up
i had problems with the SATA hdd didnt know if i should plug it in RAID or not
as i didnt have more than 2 HDDs i plug it in non RAID
i start up the cd searching for IDE deviced none found no BIOS installed..
ok i had no problem i continued to install XP all fine

then i thought about it and thought that BIOS is needed

2nd
as it said no bios installed i plugged the SATA hdd into RAID SATA and it detected the drive wen searching for IDE devices
said press CTRL+F to run fasttrack (or somthing similar)

i set up the HDD using that string 1 (meaning 1 hdd in RAID) etc etc i press del BIOS worked fine

ok then i said to myself as i dont need RAID ill set the hdd bak into normal SATA

3rd
i did that and nothing bios doesnt work now i press del but it just stays on a screen saying wait...

4th
i put the hdd bak into RAID SATA press del but same thing happened as above... the wait screen

so i figure ill go into RAID again press CTRL + F reset the hdd, wen i do that asks if im sure as it will delete all files on my HDD

...

well thats the story and i figure its the only way to work it out

i can update bios as i dont have DOS in XP and command prompt isnt an option as it doesnt work through that

so i hope u can help me out cos this is a seroius problem

thanks
(sorry if its a lil confusing i can reexplain just ask specifics)

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to the default setting by clearing the CMOS.

Instructions are on pages 45 & 46 of the Mobo Manual.

If you need the BIOS Flashing files thay are at ASUS they should only be used if you are 100% confident you know what you are doing.

Most Flashing tools need to be added to a bootable floppy disk, these can be made in Windows.

Before Flashing the BIOS make sure you read and understand the instructions in the Motherboard Manual !!

You use a bootable floppy, this has a very small DOS on.

A Win 98 Boot Disk is probably the best.

Disconnect the data cables from your HDD and CDROM.
