Windows XP & HardWare

Hello,
I would like to verify what my friend told me. This may not go under Hardware but here I am. I am building a new computer with new parts etc. Now when I first boot up my computer I was told if I go into BIOS and tell it to boot up from my CD-ROM with XP in it. Windows XP will format my harddrive, and install drivers for the rest of my hardware. I know this is a complete newbie question but I am learning how to do all of this.

Thumbs up

Your friend is correct.
The only "hiccup" you might have is if XP doesn't have a driver for a certain item of hardware. If your building from new parts, that should be no problem since new hardware now should certainly come with XP drivers on CD.

Good Luck with the build
