scan jet 3300 hp scanner

i have tried over and over again to get the thing to work one day it just stopped working and has not worked since it has been a month or more. i have installed the drivers as i did when i first purchased it but have had no luck. i am not as deep into solving pc probs as others here may be, any help would be appreciated.

First........lets establish info of what you have an what you've done.

1. Is the scanner hooked up via your printer port or usb??
2. Is it just not detected and responding or no evidence of power?
3. Have you changed anything prior to it stopping??

First one must start with the connections.........

If its via the printer port, does your printer still work??
Does the unit appear to have power?? (some have fuses)

Did you make any changes in the bios or in windows to effect
the use of the scanner??
Is it showing up in controll panel??
Did you get detection after reinstalling the drivers??

it is connected usb, it does recognize the scanner, nothing new added
it just up and quit one day. when i press the buttons i get no response from the scanner. it simply does nothing usually i ge ta busy symbol then the scanner window opens showings progress and all but i am getting nothing now

i have aim if u can help out i would appreciate it very much i am so pissed i am ready to buy a new scanner. i took it to my friends house and it works there but refuses to work on my pc that is very strange
