Angry Startup - ScanDisk

Hoping Someone can help. For some reason this started to happen about 3 weeks ago; everytime I startup Windows XP, System ScanDisk trys to scan the drive but receives an error message saying it can not have full access to the drive. However I don't care that it won't scan the disk, I just want it to to stop loading everytime I start my computer. I figure its' somewhere in the msconfig but I just can't figure out what to do. Anyone who can please help, it's a major anoyance on my behalf. BTW Norton System Check scans the disk with no problem.

Thanks in advance,
Kim

This could be a few problems, one Windows thinks that the drive has permissions on it, and the other is that Windows might think that you didn't shut it down correctly when you last used your computer.

First backup your Windows Reigstry by going to Start > Run then type regedit. Then click Registry > Export Registry File then save a copy to your desktop.

Then try playing with the setting in Windows or try removing the ScanDisk program by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs then click the Windows Setup tab then select System Tools then untick the ScanDisk box then restarting.

If you need to upload you registry again do the same as above but go to Registry > Import Registry File then find the location of the file.

Why dont you try a boot in safe mode?
This may allow the disk check to proceed, thus getting rid of the annoyance.
