prob. playing online games.

When trying to play games online i often cant get connected . I have windows XP, and a cable internet connection.Being a fast connection i wonder why i would have hassles. I run a firewall and have tweaked this on/off with some success. Will a firewall stop me geting connected, and what sort of configuration would i be looking at to get more access to play more online games ??

Are you connected to the internet via a cable gateway (router)?

no. it is a standard cable connection.I do not share the conection or anything. (my knowledge on routers etc . is limited to say least .)All other internet traffic is fine, downloading, chat, web -cam &so on )

I'm sorry I guess I misunderstood..just online gaming..ok. Must be the firewall.

If you have a cable connection you have to have a router of some sort.
