Question Compaq Presario 2800 troubles!!!

Hi All? I have a Compaq Presario 2800 with P4 M-1.7 and with a newly installed memory module of 512K - but it is the slowest thing in the world. It takes minutes to start up applications such as internet explorer and lotus notes. I have done a defrag on the HDD, but still with no success. Can anyone help??!?

May want to shut down as many of the "start up" programs as possible. In ME this is done by Start/Run/msconfig and go to the startup tab. Be careful what you uncheck in this way or you may get some weird results. Those more experienced can probably give better advice on what to start with. Good luck.
