Canon MP 730 driver prob

I just bought a canon multi pass 730 all in one fax/printer and cant get the pc to recognize the driver. I have WinXP. I called Canon and after an hour of trying different fixes, they told me that it must be a windows problem. Its a plug and Play device but it couldnt locate the driver from the CD. I tried installing the driver directly as instructed on the cd....but to no avail. The driver IS located on the CD. But, I got the all too familiar "Hardware was not properly installed". ANY ideas???



P.S. I already dld the driver from microsoft...no luck. Also I do have a printer that used the same USB port so I know its not the cable nor the actual port itself.

I was reading about your issue and on this site it says somthing about installing MP Toolbox 4.1 first. you may want to look at it
