Need help with a countdown

I want to place a count down to an event on my weblog. I found a script but its not very appealing to the eye. I found another on the http://www.georgewbush.com/blog/blogstuff.html site that I really like. Its the calendar with the days on it. I have NO IDEA how to create this or how to find someone to create a calendar like this for me. Does anyone have any ideas?

I remember seeing a lot of them out there back in the y2k days but don't remember the script. Maybe if you do a y2k search for code you may find something still out there. I'm sure there's a Java script still out there.
I'll do some looking through my HTML documentation and see if I can find something for you.

Thanks for the help...that's not what I'm looking for though.
The one I want is an actual image I think... it looks like a small banner and the countdown clock is embedded or something.
