Keep getting login prompts for most every website I visit with ads

This is getting really annoying and I don't know exactly why it's happening. Here what's going on... When I goto a website, for example http://www.windowsxpforums.com/ a windows login prompt pops up to log into img.mediaplex.com. If I press cancel over and over again, it will eventually go away, but like I said it is just really annoying especially when I goto a site like ESPN.com and multiple ones pop up wanting me to log in to adimages.go.com and global.msads.net.

And like Is aid, I have no clue why this is happening. I think it has something to do with the security on my PC because I use my computer as a WWW and FTP server with IIS 5.1, and it got really bad after setting up the FTP yesterday and to set up the FTP, I really had to tighten the security on my PC.

So if you have any suggestions, let me know, thanks.

Derek

MediaPlex is a advertising company. Those are not logon prompts they are just images, to attract users to click on them. Some thing like "Hit the monkey and win $1000".

Heh, good thought, but I'm not that gullible to fall for the pop-up prompts. It's real windows login prompts. Here's two screenshots...

They seems to be a new type of ad now that swings into the page by DHTML. They are really annoying and can get by ad blocking software.

I am 100% sure they are not advertisements!

I think it is due to that, sorry I don't have any idea on how to fix it.

Yeah, definately not an ad, 95% sure just a security thing with XP (Which is why I originally put this thread in the XP forum)

Well I have determined it's a security issue with XP and nothing is wrong with IE. To see where I'm at with my problem now, check this thread

and post any ideas there. Thanks.

I really like the Mozilla web browser, it can block popups. You can also get a preferences toolbar for it that lets you turn popups on and off with the click of the mouse button.

I apologise for getting a little off the subject, but ISS is not a very good server. Apache will beat it out anyday.

That's ok, problem solved anways. Yeah, I agree that Apache beats out ISS, but for what I'm using it for, no need to go back to apache. I just use it to access files remotely, and that's pretty much it.
