Need Major Help! Please Read

I got this new dell. I downloaded a couple of stuff. It all worked then I went to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab and then in the advanced tab I clicked the restore defaults button. All the stuff changed and since than whenever I download something it stops pretty early. Not right away but like 30-60 secs after the download started. I have internet explorer 6.0. I run on a wireless router, I have the internal desktop card, and the other comp has the cable modem and the router. The router is a linksys B. I know bad choice but all I can afford.
