Looking for a chat software!

Hi, I’m looking for chat script for my website to support my site visitors. It should be written in Perl or C++.I tried several free CGI scripts, but none of them worked fine Most common problem for them all is loosing messages if internet connection is not stable. Another one is ugly user interface, that makes my site look worse

Currently I’m trying Live Person, hosted solution. They looks great, but the prices are bit high, 100$ per operator per month…
