Can anyone help me, each time I switch my computor on it automatically tries to connect to the net It really cheeses me of.
Can this annoying problem be switched off

That most likely means your running something on startup that needs the internet, like AOL Instant Messenger or something.

Either disable those programs from starting up or disable your automatic dialing.

What OS are you using by the way?

You can disable autodialing by telling windows never to dial

Control Panel --> Internet Options --> Connections tab

Put the DOT in "Never Dial a Connection" and hit OK.

Should be good to go.

I have tried using never dial a connection but this does not work, I am using Windows home edition as my operating system.

i assume u use I.E. Goto IE-- tools--internet Option-- connection
click on : never dial a connection.
