Internet connection just won't work

so one day, i wasn't thinking, and i opened an attachement in an email from a person i didn't recognize.

GAH!!!!
so i went in real quick and deleted the file, cause i knew where it had gone & what it was called. well, of course that didn't work
so now my internet doesn't work. my browsers won't connect, but for some reason, my messengers did work for another week before they stopped connecting.

the thing was already running through my computer messin up my internet connection.
when i ran norton, it just kinda did it's usual crappy thing and found files, then didn't delete them when i told it to.
then i got adaware from my dad, he burned a copy onto a CD for me, that found a BUNCH of stuff, but didn't fix my problem


anyway, i've backed up my computer and completely reinstalled my operating system (windows xp home ed) and i still can't connect to the internet. where is the problem? what did this virus thing target?!?!?!?!

Get your dad to download WinSockXPFix,put it on a floppy or CD, transfer it to your computer and run it. That will fix the winsock if any damage to it was left behind when the malware was removed.
