Question

Did you clear your Temp files--not to be mistaken with temporary internet files? Also are you running any spyware protection?

Your problem might have something to do with programs using the Windows XP Messenger service to open websites behind your back. The link below might help you solve your problem:

It would also do no harm to run the following apps re: spyare/adware, etcetera. Make sure you disable System Restore prior to using them. Re-enable it after, if you wish to: -

How to turn on and turn off System Restore in Windows XP

SpyBot Search & Destroy

As soon as you have installed the above, install the following, directly over 1.3 Final: -

Search and Destroy DSO Exploit Fix 1.3.1 TX

Free Spybot S&D 1.3 Tutorial

Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition

Adaware Tutorial Updates & Scanning, UPDATED for Adaware SE Personal 1.05

Have you scanned for spyware? If not, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.
