Trillian Pro Virus

If you are one of those sneaky people and have tried getting trillian pro from Kazaa or any other P2P program then be prepared for viruses. Virtually all of the version shared on the internet other then off the main Trillian site contain a Backdoor.OptixPro.2.1 virus. This virus infects your windows folders and creates a registration key for itself. Non of the virus programs i have used even with the newest packs can clean it or contain it. I had the virus on here and it ended up shutting me out of virtually every program on my system. I could only use internet explorer. Therefore i had to slick my hardrive and start all over....not a godo thing for someone like me. So just beware of what you download. Turn on all the virus programs that you have, and enable the protection option in your P2P programs, so it doesnt turn up results the can contain potential viruses. Always be safe.

makes you wonder if this is their version of copyright protection!!! that is very creepy, and what a coincidence that , like you said, virtually all copies of that file have it! maybe it is built in and compiles itself without a special instruction set, like what happens when you register or something like that. hmmmm....

it could very well be....BUT the extraction file contains it and not just trillian....Once you extract the keygenerator and all the files it opens the virus...so im not sure...but i know one thing im not even going to download it.

it is extremely sketchy when it comes to compressed files and virus scanning. even though they say that they detect viruses in compressed files, do not trust that the virus, if there, has been caught. the best policy is to keep your scanner running, keep it updated, and scan your entire system at least once a week.

I just got Trillian Pro and nothing showed up on a scan and I havn't had any problems.

Most applications you get of P2P apps are infected with something.

if you purchase Trillian Pro then there should be no virus on it. Every version i downloaded from Kazaa had a virus on it, that did not activate immediatley but did after a couple weeks it was detected. I knew this becuase after doing a complete deletion of my hard drive i used the same P2P software and downloaded it again and yet again my virus scan picked up on the virus after a few days and that was the only thing i had downloaded.

I have never gotten a virus through file - sharing. I'm careful what I choose. But that dos'nt stop me from scanning every incoming file with an updated virus scanner.

I got Trillian Pro off Kazaa when it first came out, I run Norton constantly, and routinely scan my system with The Cleaner and Swat It, and none of them have detected anything.

That's too bad. Not much you can do with a brand new virus.

i was reading through this thread again, and noticed up towards the top that high6ix mentioned a key generator. i am really glad there are people out there that write 'em, but most of these people think that to use their knowledge for your own benifit will cost you. and the price usually involves being infected with a virus. so as long as you keep that in mind while engaging in this sort of activity (which is illegal, and i wouln't do anything illegal ) then whatever price you pay, whether monetary or otherwise, is worth paying for whatever you get in this fashion. just don't forget that if you do like using a product, to show your support for the people who developed it by paying for it with money, because you getting a virus doesn't buy their kids' dinner. now excuse whilst i slap myself for trying to sound like a responsible adult!!!!!

Maybe the copy I got didn't have a virus...I haven't had any problems, and I've had it for 4 months or so.
