Actually, I have four PCs sharing cable internet. The main PC has two network cards and one of them is connected to the internet via a modem D-Link DSL-500 (sold in Brazil) that has only one ethernet port. The other network card on this same PC is connected to a switch that is connected directly to another PC and from another port this switch is connected to another switch that connects the other two PCs (because the distance). I have put a router with four ethernet ports between the modem and the PCs, replacing the first switch and using only one network card on the first PC but had problems with the connection falling frequently.
Now, I want to purchase the Modem/Router
D-Link DSL-504T (
http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=373 ) that would replace that first modem (DSL-500) and has four ethernet ports that can be directly connected to those four PCs.
Does anyone know this device model and, if so, can tell me if it will work well ??
Or, should I keep this actual kind of connections with the switches??
Thanks.
