Cable Internet Stopped Working
I'll try to make this detailed as possible.
It started when my bro used Limewirer for a minute, I came back and the internet had stopped working. I have 2 computers, the other one found a "new network" and can still connect to the internet. However my main computer does not connect. Here are some things I've done.
- ISP support did nothing, I found out its my computer not them... I already knew that, told me to get a friend :P
- I reformatted (it needed it anyways I think, I'm crazi) so everything is fresh, but the exact same problem seems to be present.\
- I've changed cords around, tried a new cable modem, direct connect to the modem, reset the modem. The light on my linksys router comes on when I connect the cord, someone said that should indicate that the card is not burnt out.
- Reinstalled off my system disc drivers for the network card.
- Its a VIA Rhine II PCI Fast Ethernet Card, system came with windows ME, I was using XP before and after reformat. It was working fine a long time, but I can't remember if I had this problem before. Basically any attempts to repair or renew the connection fail. I'm pretty sure the card is intergrated onto the motherboard, considering the network port is in with all the other motherboard ports.
Looking for possible fixes, or an idea of what is wrong. Don't want to waste money fixing the wrong thing :\
