Hotmail Paranoia

hi guys

this morning i tried connecting to my main hotmail account. i typed in the username/password as normal, it went throught the process of loading page (usual text in address bar and padlock on status bar), then displays 'cannot load page' after about 30 seconds. i have 2 other hotmail accounts and they both work fine... i have made no changes to software/hardware and have run full virus/hijack/spyware progs, all clear. all other internet pages load ok also. im obviously concerned if my main hotmail account has been hijacked or something like that ;(

any advice welcomed.

It's no big thing, I have it happen to me now and then. Basically, Hotmail sucks.
But if you still have concerns, make sure to change your password often, and don't stay logged in when your not actually there (log out). Hacking hotmail is said to be almost impossible but, if someone was good enough I don't think they would spend their day trying to hack someones account just to read a letter from your Mom saying hi son\daughter or your friend saying come over this weekend, if you know what I mean. And if you are using it for sensitive material I would suggest using a better mailbox provider.

ive had the odd minor hotmail connection problem over the years, but this has been 12 hours straight - is that "normal"? the point im trying to get across though ( and why im concerned) is that other hotmail accounts are fine..... different servers maybe?

Well, that is a different story. It's still unlikely someone hacked it though. I would use one of your other accounts and contact their support and report the problem. I think 12 hours down for a server is a bit long for them unless they were doing major upgrades or something, most likely a problem with that account. I'd contact them and report it.

Yup, Hotmail sucks. The only good thing about Hotmail is that it gives its users a ridiculous amount of spam. You could try Yahoo! instead.

As a side note, if anyone wants a Gmail invite, email me at the address below. Use your intelligence to tell what to get rid of in the displayed address
