High Speed Connection Keeps Dropping Off

I use several different internet connections depending upon where I am. These include high-speed (via cable), EVDO (cell modem), and occasionally, old fashioned dial-up. When I use the cable set up (two different locations), I use it through a wireless network. I find that if I don't do anything for approx 10 minutes, the connection will have gone dead. It easily resets if I turn off the wireless feature on my notebook, and then turn it right back on. None of this happens when I use the EVDO or dial-up. This isn't a huge issue, just an annoying PITA. Can anyone suggest what I'm missing? Thanks.

are you wired or wireless?

have you ping the connection see if you have packk lost during the testing?

when you connect to other peoples routers...the routers signal is not boosted on it...so this means people put there rotuer on even(like I do) to provent people from trying to get free internet from them..
