Internet proxies

Why do they have Internet proxy servers? For the most part that only allows spammers, scam artists, and ID theives to mass-mail unexpecting people who may be gullible enough to fall for their scam.

Hey md16185,

It seem like you are having some problem with spam email and proxy servers.........are you trying to stop people from using certain sites ? Do you manage a group of users ? If you are, I could refer you to bunch of available solutions to make your life easier

Let me know

Cheers

Just wondering what the purpose of proxies were... It seems to provide a way for spammers to send spam anonymously..

md16185,

I have to disagree.....Proxy Servers are out there for people who can't sure the web sites they are searching for.....usually, users in big office or big corporations have limited browsing access (Administrative policy and so on ) so for them the ways around the browsing issue is to use the proxy server...on the other hand proxy server owners make money by people posting advertisement on their site.

Email spamming is completely different issue all-together. Email spammers are very knowledgeable people....they search for vulnerable computer on line which has the SMTP relay enabled......that's how they use their own computer to send email out to the unsuspected victim's computer and then victim's computer will send it out.....in almost all the email spam cases....spam comes from a vulnerable computer.

Cheers

Why don't companies just let ppl surf on their breaks, instead of filtering the Internet, to just their intranet... That defeats the whole purpose...

It's human's nature to take advantage of anything they can......if it's there we will take advantage of it.....if it's not there then company don't have to worry and employees get used to it too.

Talking

How dio they set up all the filters, and why be on a power trip. I mean, ust let people go wherever, especially on their breaks, or if they have to do something for work?

That's like a library around her blocking chats/IM clients, because their "tech" people aren't tooo internet savvy so they just block stuff.. I think it's fairly pointless...

Just like when ppl get 200 GB Hard drives, and 4 GB of RAM, yet lost of places block links and e-mails. Don't they realize there are too many places for search engines to keep up?
