internet on a boat?

A colleague is thinking of buying a narrow boat in the near future. He is wondering how he would be able to get broadband/the internet on it. I guessed he may be able to use a mobile for it to connect to, but I have no idea. Anyone else know this?

Hi There,

There are few solutions out there. There are these CDMA PCMCIA card out there which can act as land line modem. Basically, it's a card you buy for your laptop and comes with driver.....you install the card and then obviously you need to have ISP account, you can use the this card to make wireless call you the ISP and get you on line.

the second solution works the same way but the hardware is a bit different. You can buy a special modem card the comes with cable, you need to insert the card (I call it a card, it's a PCMCIA card), and connect the one end on the cable to the card and the other end to your cell phone, then through you / your friend could connect to the ISP VIA the cell phone and get on Internet, it may sound complicated but it's not......if you need more help let me know via PM.
