Well, even though the idea of switching to satellite soon feels like it's come to me in a wet dream, I'm still stuck with this dial-up for now.. It's seemingly fast dial-up considering what I read. I dial in at 52 Kbps almost every time, but I still seem to have what I'd call sluggish dial-up. At our other house on the other computer, we dial in at about 40 K but it runs so much quicker than here at home. All this doesn't make sense to me 'cause I just spent my life savings (or 3 months at least) on a new computer and now I'm stuck with this slower dial-up that even drops connection sometimes. My virus scan and spybot are all up to date, which rules out a software issue (I think) It may be because I have an AC outlet vertically adjacent to the phone jack in my room which is causing some impedence, or it may be because there's some configuration I'm overlooking, or it may be because we use the old analogue phone lines, or it may be because of Satan. I've yet to come to a conclusion about my slow dial-up and I was looking for some help. Post here or email me at
