Smile my take on the internet (proxies, blocking sites, blocking chats/IMs)

The Internet has always been kind of a "free-standing medium", so to block things out, arbitrarily or whatever, I think is just like all the pop-ups, spam, proxies...

Personally, I think since spammers use proxies, I think they need banned. As for workplaces automatically assuming workers are gonna spam or send viruses on their companies time, I think probabl 80% of people who are in business aren't that dumb..

I'd say ban the spammers, and ID thieves from the Internet, and don't try to verify things ya don't have or aren't actively using.

As far as chats/IMs, get rid of the pervs. I know of sites that ban the word "hotmail" and others that change "MySpace" to "fake me".

The media gets too many people paranoid about the Internet as a whole. It comes down to people using their heads and being smart.
