Thumbs up Try this.........

Try blocking websites by using the "hosts" file.

To block a particular website on your computer follow the following steps:

Step 1:

Find the file under -

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Step 2:

Open the “hosts” file by using "notepad". At the bottom of the line, you can see as follows -

127.0.0.1 localhost

Add the following line below it -

e.g. 127.0.0.1 www.yahoo.com localhost

The above code is written to block www.yahoo.com website on the computer.

Hope this helps.

Thumbs up do loike this it's sure

first u open this address C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
then create a note pad file and paste the following code and site which u want to restrict .

example :-
[color="Red"]# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 mail.google.com
127.0.0.1 photobucket.com
127.0.0.1 mail.google.com/mail
127.0.0.1 login.yahoo.com
127.0.0.1 www.gmail.com
127.0.0.1 www.orkut.com
127.0.0.1 www.yahoo.com
127.0.0.1 www.youtube.com
#127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
127.0.0.1 www.wikimapia.com
127.0.0.1 www.indiatimes.com
127.0.0.1 www.rediffmail.com
127.0.0.1 www.hotmail.com
127.0.0.1 www.hi5.com
127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com

now the above sites are compleately blocked except www.facebook.com becoz check above at first is ther one symbel of "#" using this u can open that ste

i think it will be helpful to u
if it's not work mail me mohan.sweet@yahoo.com

proxy server

let me suggest a proxy server instead of using an Internet Connection Sharing. Using a proxy server will give you the power to control all the connection in and out for all the computer in the network..

Won't work mate. A proxy server doesn't share 1 connection between several computers.

Block the sites via the ICS machines firewall.

a proxy server will not share the internet connection dude... the client computer will connect to the server to access the internet.. by that you can controll the sites you want to grant access with..

Completely true, but you said to use a proxy instead of ICS, which won't work

Anyway, set the gateway firewall to deny all requests from the local network to the net. Make exceptions for windows update etc, as required.

HI I NEED HELP URGENTLY

I just noticed that I am unable to connect to any secure websites.
For eg- yahoo opens up but when I try to connect to yahoo mail,I get the security alert and then nothing happens.
If I type in yahoo mail in the address bar then I get the "Cannot find server" message.
I have tried other secure websites including paypal and all yield the same frustrating result.
Please Please HELP!!!
