Icons in IE Favorites
How do I get rid of a particular icon associated with a bookmark in IE Favorites? Some Websites have them, some do not. Most of those are ok, but this one particular one I don't like at all, would rather just have the blue "e".

Right click on it, then on properties and then click on the change icon button and pick from the ones on offer, or use the browse button to find one you prefer.

Ok, I've done that, and the unwanted icon remains. To be more specific, it's that so-called "peace" symbol that Craigslist uses. Why does it stubbornly remain when I selected a new icon from the "change icon" function? When I go back and check the "change icon" function, it still shows the blue "e" as the selected icon, but the unwanted icon is what shows when I go to my Favorites. Is it something in the registry that Craigslist messes with?

Have you cleaned your Temp file / Internet Files and cookies ? if you haven't then the Icon association still remains with the old one....you can change it to blue "e" or what ever else you want, set it to read only in General property section so it can't be over written.
Cheers

Ok, cleaned all that out and selected "read only", that seems to have worked as far as the IE Favorites go. However, the symbol remains in the toolbar, where the URL is displayed.

you can't get rid of that......that icon is pushed to you when you visit any web site......some web site have modified it to reflect their logo and some don't care about.
Cheers
