Internet works for few minutes only...

Pentium IV with Windows XP Pro SP2.
Antivirus AVG now, before CA Internet Suite.
Wired to a Wireless LYNKSYS adapter.
The computer works perfect if I do not use Internet.
It has been working perfect for about 6 months.
Immediately I press Internet Explorer works with the fast speed provided
by Cable Internet. After 2 or 3 minutes, the connection dies (95%) or the mouse freezes (5%).
What is strange is the fact that if I press VPN (that uses Internet, of course) the connection with that remains working, as should be.
So, the problem looks when I use Internet Explorer only, but I do not have a way to test a different option (only Internet or VPN).
I ran many different AV and they do not show any virus or thread.
Please help me with possible causes to check.
Thank you,

hi,are you saying you have more than one anti-virus program (you should only ever have one on a pc) or that you have run the same one many tines, sounds like you might have a trogan or two,try this http://www.download.com/Advanced-Win...=uo&tag=button and this
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download...yware/us/frt/0 and dont forget to update them before running the scan, good luck.
