Ethernet failure after a few minutes

Hello,

I'm running WindowsXP Pro, Browse with Internet Explorer 7, I have two computers running off one router/modem from verizon. Here's my story, Originally I had one computer wired direct from the router/modem and the other running wireless, they both worked great for about a year. The computer that was wireless started not wanting to maintain a good connection speed, example: 54mbps 48, 36, 5, then disconnect couldn't access the internet, I called verizion and after troubleshooting over the phone with tech support they desided to send me another router/modem, this didn't take care of the problem. I called the manufactuer of my wireless card Linksys, they said that the pci slot that I had the card in didn't have the right voltage and to change to another slot, I tried this and it solved the problem for about 3 months and it started doing the samething again. I decided to run wire through the addict and go direct to ethernet and now the samething is happening again. Any suggestions.
