The coax you suggested would be fine. I would use the twist on F connectors. My ISP fitted crimped on connectors. Partly depends on durability and if the cable is subject to frequent movement. IMO

I've repaired the cable in my garden that I accidentally chopped, via soldering. It caused no loss of performance, so getting the "best" connectors would probably not make any real difference.
Splitting, in a cable, I wouldn't do. It needs to be an isolated splitter. It will allways cause a signal loss. Not a problem if the signal is good and the cable lengths not too great, but a point to bear in mind.
