DHCP/IP Protocol problem

Hi,
I rebuilt my computer over the weekend, adding parts from my current computer to my girlfriend's motherboard and CPU. Now that it's all installed I'm unable to connect to the internet, it keeps saying it's "unable to renew my IP address". I spoke to Virgin, my ISP, and they say I need to take my computer into a shop so they can reinstall my DHCP/IP protocol.

Is there any way of downloading my DHCP/IP protocol, or just generally doing it myself? Is it going to be better to just take it into a shop?

Go to START, & run, type cmd. In the DOS box type ipconfig, & return.
All your net IP connections will be listed, & if something fails, type in "ipconfig /release", wich will drop all IP connections, then type ipconfig /renew. That should solve your problem. Typing ipconfig /all should show you that the DHCP/IP is reinstalled.

If you use a modem, power it off, then on. restart the PC, run network setup wizard.
