Using a ADSL as a LAN Router only

I have a Netgear DG834G which I was using as a ADSL modem connected to my phone line. Now I have a cable model which has a LAN cable I am trying to use the Netgear purely as a LAN router. The problem is that I can only connect one PC to the internet at a time and each time I what another PC to work I have to disconnect the cable modem power and start again. Can this Netgear be a simple LAN router?
