Links to web pages work hit and miss

XP Pro SP3
1.5Mb ram
Zone Alarm and AntiVir security

Hi, I have 3 probs that might not be related, first one might be my fault but I'm not sure, when I insert a usb memory flash drive the PC will not open it, I have to go to My PC and open from there, I followed a speed up tutorial some time age and maybe this function was turned off? I'd like to turn the function back to auto.

The second prob is web page (blue) links they don't always work, and just turn redish brown.

And I can't download flash player when I click the d'load button the page just refreshes, eventualy I turned off ZA and I got the Google toolbar, when I click the U-Tube clip that my pal sent me it opens and the text is in Russian, the thumb nail titles are in english but when I click it nothing happens, I tried going on the U-Tube site and there all text is English but still nothing happens when I click the thumbnail.
If anybody can point me in the right direction with any of these irratations I will be grateful.
Regards Rob.

some links don't work

Hi Monty
Thanks for your interest, I have been using FireFox for the last three months and have reverted back to IE as I feel it is easier to use.

Its possible that the flash player prob might be something to do with cookies, when I go on some sites I get a message that I need to enable cookies, although as far as I know they are enabled as the Advanced Privacy is set to accept 1st party and prompt for 3rd, the always allow session cookies is ticked as is the Override Auto Cookie Handling, the security tab is set to medium and I don't think Zone Alarm and Avira are stopping them as there is nothing obvious.
But I'll be happy if you can suggest anything on any of the three probs.
Regards Robert

I would uninstall flash player. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...nalId=tn_14157
Then I would then clear out your cookie and IE temp files.
Now download IE 7 and install.
Now reinstall flash player http://www.adobe.com/

Links don't always work

Hi Monty
Thanks for your help, I have had success on two probs, I was blundering around when I opened " Manage Add-ons " and I noticed that " Shockwave flash object activeX control flash9f.ocx " was turned off, when I enabled it the web links worked and the movie clips in Utube loaded up and played ok.
So just the USB flash drive problem to sort out now, I'm sure its an option that has been turned off in a PC speed up tutorial and I can't remember what it was which was turned off as it was quite some time ago, I supose its a matter of finding out the way the PC automatically recognizes that the usb port is occupied and turning the recognition function back on again.
Best regards Robert.

Hi All
As there has been only one input I think I will look in other directions for the USB prob, and call this post solved, and I hope that finding and enabling active X may have helped other readers of this forum.
many thanks Robert'o
