No yoyr data should be safe but it depends on what has infected your system. Before removing back up all personal docs ect to a DVD or similar so if you need to format you have your files safe.
Should i use the malware and spyware software from your site to make these scans?
The computer i can use to perform the scans currently has AVG Anti Virus, ZoneAlarm Firewall, lavasoft Ad-Aware and it did have Xoft Spyware remover but the company has changed now so it can no longer be updated.
Ok I am now experiencing problems when installing my hard drive in the other computer. The other computer has 2 hard drives and has been partitioned. I removed the second hard drive and I then swapped it with my hard drive. After booting up the computer it would not load up at all. May i need some sort of boot disk? if so where can i find one that I can put onto a floppy/CD-ROM.
No, all you need to do is add it to the PC not try and boot the computer whith the infected hard drive,
You must of removed the C: drive.
Put the hard drive back in then add your drive.
No, you misunderstood me.
What i meant was the computer which is running fine has 2 hard drives. Therefore I removed the hard drive which it does not boot from and replaced it with my hard drive. Unfortunately now when i try and boot up the computer it just keeps running the BIOS screen. Hope this helps.
I would say you PC is trying to boot from the hard drive from the infected PC. You will need to chage the infected drive from a master to a slave. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/op/jump_IDE.htm
Or you can buy a USB caddy always handy to have and there cheap.( the easy way)
Sorry for my inactivity in my thread. I didn't want you all to think I was not grateful for all the help.
I ended up just reformatting my Hard Drive and starting a fresh. It actually was a good thing in the end as my computer is faster and more 'tidy'.
So just letting you all know my problem is solved and I have some great protection installed now (some from the website mentioned in this thread - thanks!).
