I.Explorer colors weird

This is an HTML/CSS problem. I am making a website.
I set the background color to #333333 and made a background picture to go in the middle and the buttons to be also #333333 so that they would blend in. It looks good in dreamweaver, opera and firefox but in internet explorer and safari, the background is a slightly different shade of grey and it doesnt look very good. How can I fix this?
