IE Not connecting, HTTP port (80) msg.

Hi,

In the middle of watching a youtube video and having another site open, IE droped connection. After restarting, etc. it still does not connect.

I can connect through AOL, and IE on my laptop though.

I clicked on the diagnosis link on the IE window, and it gave me the following message:
================================================== =
Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP,HTTPS, or FTP. This is Probably caused by firewall settings on this computer

Check the firewall settings for the HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443) and FTP port(21).

You might need to contact your internet service provider (ISP) or the
manufacturer of your firewall software.
================================================== =
I am using IE 8.0.60001.18702
ZoneAlarm 8.0.298.000
Windows XP Pro

Thanks!!!
NYF.

Hi,

I diabled zone alarm and then I was able to connect with IE.

I did open zone alarm whe this first happened to try to find that port setting but cound't find it. Didn't think to disable it and try. Good idea!

Anything to try next?

BTW - I didn't mean to put my post here twice. I wanted to post it under another category, but for some reason it ended up here again.

Thanks!
NYF.

Why does this happen? I try to post the same message under another category (Windows XP, Software problems, etc.) and it ends up back here?

Anyway, after no response on the Zone Alarm Forum, and not finding much on their F1 Help, or on their tech support section on their web site.... I entered a live chat with tech support.

They really don't give support for the free version, but I said I couldn't find anything, so he told me how to reset.

Hold <cntrl> and <shift>, right click on the Zone Alarm in the tray, and choose reset. Follow instructions after that.

That worked! IE is back!

I was looking around for some kind of restore settings within in the Zone Alarm program when all this first started, but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for the tips. Sorry for the message getting posted here so many times.
NYF.

Ok, I won't. Sorry about that.
I sometimes do that when I see I am not getting resposnes in one section and the topic could fall under different categories.

Thanks for the note.
