internet web sites

My ie6 in xp is playing up.Some of the sites I visit frequently are now not opening links from within them, this can vary from a jpeg image to a web site link.Other sites I visit regularly are operating fine.I get a message from the sites that are not operating correctly that the java text scripting is not enabled, any suggestioms for a fix please?regards pcfanatic2.

Firstly try a bit of general housekeeping and see what happens after that ...

Check your system for malicious code using an up to date Anti Virus program.

Check your system for spyware and adware using a checker such as Spybot.

Remove unwanted files and applications by running Disk Cleanup.

Check your Hard Disk for errors using Check Disk.

Defrag your Hard Drive

Thanks for the quick response,I have already been down the route you suggest with no success.I am beginnig to suspect my popup stopper as I get a no entry sign briefly qhen a popup tries to appear and I get the same brief sign when I click a link from within one the aforementioned websites.

Try disabling your Pop Up Stopper for a quick experiment to see if that is the cause.

Alternitively try a different browser with a built in Pop Up Stopper.

beeboy is the grand master of browsers around here, PM him, I'm sure he will help.

website problem

Thank you to all members who responded to my website link viewing problem. It is now sorted, you were on the right track loose chippings-I uninstalled popup stopper and the sites worked ok,unfortunately the dreaded popups returned so I reinstalled the stopper.Actually the way round the problem is to keep the ctrl key depressed as you click yhe link you wish to go to,this effectively overrides the block. Many thanks,I truly appreciate your help. pc fanatic2
