Browserwise

Hello, I need some help

I am running a WindowsXP with Internet Explorer Version 6. Couple of days ago it started to act up. When I do search and then click on any site in the results instead of going to this site it shows a 404 error and goes to browserwise site instead.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Thank you for your help.

It seems to work. However there is still Browserwise toolbar I would like to get rid of.

Do you know how to do it?

I have the Google toolbar and that is located in "C:\windows\downloaded Program Files"..... So if Browserwise is there, delete it

You can also disable it. Right click the tool bar and un-tick Browserwise.

Browserwise toolbar

I have it disabled, but I could not find it anywhere on my hard drive. I did a search on browserwise including system and hidden files, and did not find it.

Any ideas?

Try variations, Browse, wise, BW etc.
It may may have a different name, but i would expect to find it where i said.

Tried just about every abbreviation and substitution I could think of (including the once you suggested). Nothing. The only thing contained in C:\windows\downloaded Program Files is the "Shockwave Flash Object", and I don't think this is it.

I am lost there.

Uninstall worked in terms that the Browserwise does not interfere with websites access any more. However the tool bar is still there and I can't get it out. There is nothing in any of the folders on the hard drive, as I have searched the C: including all subfolders, system files, and hidden files. Nothing resembling Browserwise is listed in the Install/Uninstall programs either.

I have tried just about everything I know, with no results.

Any ideas?

Follow the instructions in previous replys. It did help, except the Browserwise toolbar is still there.

Thumbs up

Browserwise is a component of Xupiter. You should use Ad-Aware to get rid of it. You can download it from www.downloads.com. Make sure you download the updater as well so you can get the new definition files. once you have the new definition files installed run ad-aware and it should take care of it

Thank you for your suggestion. I have discovered some things lurking in the depth of my computer that I did not need. However, no XUPITER. And Browserwise toolbar is still very much there.

Browserwise toolbar

I did a key search in regedit and deleted every key with the term Browserwise in it. I also deleted the Xupiter folder in Program Files, although a few of the DLL's can't be deleted without a tol like the Seek and Destroy app mentioned earlier. I think if you get rid of Browserwise in your registry, it'll make nice in the toolbar. It no longer appears as an optional toolbar in IE.

Use above comments at your own risk.
