P.s.

In case I wasn't exactly clear, I could access most sites, and my roomates through the router could access all sites. The firewalls edit the registry, so do not turn them on. It is in essence a registry problem caused by certain malware that may have been removed from the computer a long time ago, or certain firewalls that edit the registry keys.

Good luck,
Jordan

And let me know if this works. I hope I can help

Yup, WinSockFix fixed the problem.

I had the same problem. Couldn't connect to Netflix. My time and date were set correctly. I ran WinSockFix, and that cured the problem. Thanks Jordan.

cannot access certain sites from behind a router

I have been locked out of my hotmail account since upgrading to the new live version. I have also experienced difficulties downloading upgrades to Winamp, AVG antivirus, Creative soundblaster and other sites. Other machines behind the same router did not experience these problems. Some Microsoft sites were unaccessible or extremely slow.

I tried various remedies I found on the internet, repairing my network connection, reducing the MTU setting on both the router and my network adapter, all to no avail.

I came across this thread and decided to try it. Downloaded the winsockfix.zip, created a restore point on my XP Pro sytem, used the wisockfix program to create an additional registry backup and clicked FIX. Got a message telling me that I should reboot to complete the fix. I rebooted and got a message telling me that the system had recovered from a serious error. I clicked dont send. Tried to get into hotmail and could now get into my mail account. Tested AVG and was able to download latest updates automatically (havent been able to do that for months)

Many thanks to Jordan. His tip fixed my problems and I am grateful to both him and the authors of the winsockfix program.

Ken Arnold

Figured out the problem easy fix

Okay so I called the server (AT&T) and all you have to do is have them reset the cable modem. Rebuild and reset. Once they did this I was able to log into Netflix. Problem solved.
