Question ADSL Line Filters

I live in New Zealand. New Zealand is a country where, at present we have only one main phoneline provider who has strong market controls against competition (A monopoly if you will). This means that I have no choice over who I pay for my residentual phone lines or who I pay for ADSL. Telecom wants me to pay either $250NZ (about $160US) for them to come in and install an ADSL splitter so I can use the phone at the same time as the internet. Either that or I have to pay $16 per phone jack to install line filters. Some of my phone jacks I cant use a line filter on, for example the phone in the kitchen is wall mounted and there is absolutly no room between the phone jack and the phone for a filter. What I want to do is install 1 filter just before the first phone jack and run all the downstream phone off that one filter and run a seperate bit of cable, unfiltered, to the ADSL modem. What I want to know is, will this one line filter that has been designed for one phone have the capacity to handle up to three phones as well as the ADSL on the same line. I have attached a picture of what I want to do. Will it work? What is the technical difference between a line filter and a splitter, if any?

Ouch, 160 bucks just to drop filter ,,, that's highway robbery ??? we (in Canada) basically can drop in any Bell phone store and ask for ADSL filter,, and they would hand it to you for free,,,Too bad you guys don't use the same type of Jack or else I could have sent you a box of them
Regarding you design, hummmmm,, I don't think daisy chain would work for the phone line, but I will ask a friend in a phone company today and let you know.

cheers

Update

I installed my modified line filter last night and all the phones seem to be working fine. My ADSL has not been turned on yet, Telecom are too busy and can't do it until the 7th...apparently. But yea, everything seems to work ok, they all ring, they all work as normal, even with all off hook at the same time. Just don't know what will happen when the ADSL is turned on
