lindows??

i am working on a computer with lindows on it...has anyone got a clue what this is...i mean it looks like a hybrid linux/windows thing.but why?

It is a Linux os tailored to look like Windows. As to why ..... some people wanted Linux but were more comfortable with the Windows look I guess. I vaguely remember this coming out a few years ago.

Lindows is an older version of the linux distro Linspire.]

Linspire costs money, while most other distros are free. It is supposed to be friendly for people currently using windows to switch, but im not a big fan of it.

Basically, tell them to get a real distro like Ubuntu or Debian ;P

lindows is now called linspire microsoft fobbed them off with a couple of million$$$ to change their name in order to make money on windows simple
