Windows Server 2003 - internet access via router

Hi,

I have Windows Server 2003 machine that is connected to ALLNET router.
I have also Windows XP professional machine that is connected to same router.

I am not good at server administration but I have installed WS 2003 with all main features.

The problem I am facing is following: I can't connect to internet from server but can connect to internet via XP machine.

I don't really understand where the problem lies.
I get message "Windows cannot renew the IP address from DHCP server".
If I shut down the DHCP server option on my server nothing happens.
If I manually add the IP address for my server I also do not get any access either.

This is where my knowledge of servers come to end.

Now any help how to solve this problem would be great.

Best regards,

Gregor Nastran

2003 server needs the DNS server address in order to work properly..... just go to your Windows XP machine and in the command prompt type in "IPconfig /all" that will give you the DNS server address so you can plug those number in.

Cheers

Snowmonkey thanks for the help, but this did not solve my problem.

I still can't connect to internet via ALLNET router, but can connect to internet via Windows XP machine.

Any other suggestions ?
