I believe you can just format the corrupted drive while you're laptop is running in the good OS.

LOL.... This is a good one

"1badtech", your nick name truly represents your answer formatting the drive will kill both of the operating system.

rborkman- there is no clean way of doing this and I'm not going to suggest to format your drive either.
First Win2k server would install in "Winnt" directory and second Win2k operating system would install in "Winnt1" directory, you could delete one of these tow files (which ever you don't want), then you could edit the boot menu so it would not prompt you at the boot up (through Control Panel-> System Property-> Advance-> Startup and Recovery-> "Edit" button on "system Startup" section.

Cheers

You obviously haven't done it before. I have been in the computer business probably more than you have been.

Windows will not let you format a drive that it's currently running on. That's why I suggested to boot on the good Windows install. From there you go to Computer Management/Disk Management. (If you don't know where that is, go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools). Right click the other partition and you'll be able to 1. delete that partition; 2. reformat that partition; or 3. repartition it.

I didn't say to format the drive using the CD. I specifically said to format it while the good OS is running.

Next time you accuse people of not knowing what their doing, make sure you know what you're talking about.

LMAO.... This should be on the top 10 list of idiotic tech support.

WTF are you talking about? There is no way Windows 2000 server will install on the same partition as Windows 2000 workstation and vice versa. You obviously don't know what you're talking about and have not worked with servers before. He said, he has W2K server on 1 partition and W2K workstation on another partition. He didn't say anything about winnt and winnt1 directories.

By the way, you're one smart monkey. You know how to use a computer and you are giving smart ass advices.

Once again.. I will say... your name does match your suggestion... LOL

I don't give 2 $hit how long you been doing this, the fact remains that you suggested to format the drive.

For your information, I have Windows 2003 SMB and Windows XP as well as Windows XP on the same partition on one drive... you think it is not do-able.....think again.

I can say the same thing about your screen name.

Anything is doable but it doesn't mean it's practical for use in the business world. Why would anybody in their right mind install windows XP workstation on the same box running a server? The more you say things the more you are sounding like you don't have the real world experience. Let me guess, you probably don't even have a legitimate license for your 2003 server.

I don't know if you are able to comprehend anything but I already told you that you can format another partition and/or drive in Windows XP or 2000. How do I get that in your monkey brain?

I APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE THAT HAS TO READ THIS MESSAGE. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about but insists that he is correct. Once again, I apologize to the everyone and hopefully this will be my last post on this thread.

I wanted to get under your skin and I did

A1-Let's start with Experience....I have been IT Admin for medium size company for past 6 years and before that I have my own computer shop which I still manage to run.

A2- why would I want to install XP and 2k3 on the same drive.... because, people like me can and people like you can't and don't know how to do it either.

A3- For your information we have site license well as MSDN universal subscription.

Finally, don't apologize to people for your $tupid answer, go get some work done in REAL world as you call.

My home pc has the Nero Burning Rom program. I know that the Linux download is an ISO Image file . In When I burn to a cd ,Should it be a) bootable disc b) udf/iso disc / Thanks. I'll hang up and see what you say.PS This is not and install Linux. It runs live on the CD Rom. The hard drive won' be touched

I'm glad you got your problem resolved despite of the hijacked thread. You can create a bootable CD from an ISO file using a CD burning program. Roxio or Nero are the two that comes to mind. Open the ISO file using Roxio or Nero and you can create a bootable disk.
