....Whats a "Floopy"?

Is that like a jump drive for Grampas? LOL!

Gee, if I had a system still running Win95 and a Floppy Drive I'd try this...

Dude, I am just kidding. I haven't read the word "Floppy" in years...maybe 1994 was the last time. Good idea though.

Wink

1 do not mess with the schools laptop, use a linux live cd as long as there is a windows partition on the drive it will run linux and download whatever to a usb key/dongle,hope this helps.
Remember most schools and colleges also know which terminal and user go online and to where through their server so Linux is the best, but you will still leave tracks as you are not experienced enough to do what you intend.

for those not using another's machine I would suggest xp password recovery which allows access to sam file at boot and all passwords can be deleted or changed.

linux Rules,microsoft drools...

To get past the administrator password simply download ultimate boot disc and boot the pc up in linux. In there you will find an option to change the administrator password without having to try and crack the sam file. This is probably the easiest way.

That's the only sensible answer I've seen on this thread. No-one bothered to tell the OP that it could amount to an infringement of privacy to tell someone how to 'crack' a password-protected account. We don't who he/she is, why they want to get past the password etc. The account is password protected for a good reason by the person who set it up. "I forgot it" is a classic excuse for "I'm not allowed in but I need to get in". Sounds suss to me as well.

This forum is going downhill. No moderator (apparently). No self-respecting forum member would give any help with a request of this kind.

guyzzzzzz.....wateva methods tat u people told here ...are not working ..and practicly dosnt solve the problm of the question asked....its only can be done by password recovery cd ...and bootin it.... else other method dosnt work......tat safe mode method is just a false 1...coz we can open the windows in safe mode by pressing ALT + CLT +DEL TWO times but ..we can get acces through administrator. it wll be the user wch wll provide us entry in the window in safe mode. so frnds dont be confused just use the simple and sweet method of cd...!!!

xp password recovery cd will access sam file and give you a list of user and admin passwords which you can change or delete and then reboot into operating system and use to access system it is very simple as opposed hirens boot cd and other methods.
The only time that this will not work would be if the motherboard is like a dell in security using an EEPROM chip to store admin passwords and then it gets complicated requiring advanced skills in flashing said chip with home made specialist equipment to bridge flash chip ,sometimes with hazardous results so be WARNED attempting this is only to be done by profesionals.

As the process of password recovery is well known amongst I.T experts security has been upgraded to use in a lot of PC`s an EEPROM chip seperate to the standard bios chip and generally placed so as to be hard to access to prevent or increase the difficulty of stolen laptops and notebooks from being accessed after all if it cannot be used whats the point in stealing it in the first place,so be warned if you are unscrupulous enough to try and steal one they are not all going to be worth the prison sentence you deserve.
Furthermore if it is fingerprint protected (biometrically) then you will also be wasting your time, have a nice life and stay out of jail,if you can`t I hope your cell mate is not named bubba and you can stay an anal virgin.

If you're on windows xp and can't get on, at the log in menu press ctrl+alt+del+del and sign in as administrator with no password, from there you can change the passwords of anyone by going to start > control panel > user accounts > user accounts > pick a sign-in > change password, or just goto start > run > cmd and type "net user (account to change password) *"
