INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

I installed Red Hat 7.3 but X window crashes all the time. I got an error message:
INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

Can someone give me an adveice how to solve the problem?

I use Future Power Monitor Model:19PF95

Thanks
M.S.

This is a very common problem. You probably set wrong parameters for your video card or monitor. If you receive a log-in prompt after the error message, simply log-in as root, and type "xf86config". Make sure you have all the specs for your monitor and graphics card available. Always test the settings if asked. If it wont test properly then go back and redo some settings. You can also log-in to a console at boot by typing "linux init 3" (without the quotes of course). If asked to startx at reboot say yes. When you redo the settings and reboot, if you do not get a graphical login, just type startx and that will bring you to kde. I would set resolution at 1024 / 768 and color to 256 for sure to get going. Go here for more info.

I don't understand one thing in Linux Installation.

When I install Linux at the end it asks me if I want to 'test monitor" I press button everything works. But when Linux starts First time it crashes X.

You need to access a console for a log-in prompt or you should get the prompt after the respawning thing stops. Log in as root and password. go here for more relevant info on 7.3. You can always reboot from the install cd as well and run Xconfig ( I think).

Also consider upgrading to RH8 or Mandrake 9. 7.3 is a little old now.
