Small business server 2003 internet problem

I am installing a test setup of small business server 2003 but i cant get remote access to work over the internet. My pc has 2 network adapters and a dlink modem. The server is setup to be a dhcp server with a scope of 192.168.16.1 to 192.168.16.254 and the server side network card is set to 192.168.16.2, the second card is set to receive its ip automatically. The modem is on 192.168.1.1 and is a dhcp server with a scope of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254. I have a broadband connection which requires a username & password which are stored in the modem. I can connect to the internet and remote connection on a pc connected via the lan. I cannot connect via another pc over the internet using htps://server.domain.com/remote. Can anyone help I am pulling my hair out.

Try typing in the IP address instead of the name. If you can connect you have a DNS problem. Quick fix is to make an entry in the HOST file.

Simple Tests

Ping <ip address>

Ping <DNS name>

tracert <dns name>

Let us know whats happens.

Another thing you can try in XP run help and support/tools/network diagnotics
THis will help nail the issue!

Just re-read your post try the above first. But what exactly are you trying todo? Are you trying to logon remotly, can you authenicate yourself, have you given your account the correct permissions. You need to give a bit more detail.
