Linux RAM Memory
I have run Live Linux CD with 256M RAM and installed Ubuntu/Linux onto a separate HDD with the same amount of memory.
The memory isn't a real issue IMHO - it may affect graphic speed, but a Live CD is only a "Taster" so you can get some of the honey without the bees stinging you.
When you come to install I think Ubuntu has a lot going for it. They will mail you a pair of CD's I understand. One is Live, Two is the Install, but as I've said even the Partitioning is somewhat oddball. I would rec that you don't dual-boot on your best computer, or do what I have...use a caddy with dedicated HDD - no risk to yr Win files...but you can't easily transfer files...probably not an issue...you could use a USB-pen-drive as temp storage, or write a CD etc.
