FEDORA Uninstallation

Hello freinds,

I have Fedora Core 4 installed on my machine already having Windows 98 and Windows XP.(The hard disk is 120 GB). Now I want to remove Linux ,as I want to create space for my project work. Also formatting the whole hard disk will not be a feasible solution.

I am very confused so as to how should I approach this problem.

Also, I have already removed the Linux partitions(boot, swap & root) from my other machine using the Acronis Partition Expert. But the problem is that now I can't use m Windows 98 and other important data.

Kindly help me.

Thanks in advance

You have already removed Fedora when you deleted boot, swap, and root.

If you had a "home" partition you should have moved the data over to windows before you deleted Fedora. Windows will not be able to access files in the linux formats.

What were you booting all the operating systems with? Was the linux bootloader installed into the boot partition you deleted? Can you boot Xp?

Before you can use the free space you will have to create a new partition to fill it and format that partition with a file-system type windows can see (fat32 or ntfs)

You might have borked your MBR, depending on how you installed GRUB.

Are these windows games? If so, you will need "wine".

If they are linux games you should use Fedora rpms or Fedora package management.

Search with google "wine" and "fedora package management".

What exactly did you download?

If you downloaded an .rpm file, prefferably an rpm prepared specifically for Fedora, double-clicking on the package shoul make your system try to install it. It may fail though, and tell you there are some missing dependencies...

Take a look at www.fedorafaq.org to learn how to properly set up yum to install packegs that have been specifically prepared for Fedora and aal their dependencies easily.
